Top Down Sock Class On Zoom
In this class we will learn how to knit a traditional top down sock with a heel flap and gusset on Zoom. This heel design is universally regarded as having the best fit, can easily be reinforced and the shape is ideal for a contrasting color. We will also explore attractive stitches for the ankle, including a simple twisted rib and a simple purl design. This class includes an overhead view of my hands as I demonstrate techniques, a recording of both Zoom classes and additional instruction videos to ensure you understand every step. We will also cover two sock at a time. This class meets twice and starts 12-2pm PST, March 21-28.
- Approximately 100 gm of light colored fingering weight sock yarn. Many sock yarns contain a percentage of nylon for durability. Note that Paton’s Kroy is slightly heavier and you will need to purchase two balls, since each only provides enough yarn for a single sock
- Size 1, circular knitting needles 32″” or long to knit magic loop. Students can also use two cable needles or double pointed needles so long as they have circulars for casting on. Students can try a size #1.5 or #2 needles if they are a very tight knitter, or if they are using Paton’s Kroy yarn.
- Students will need a tapestry needle and a pair of scissors.
A pattern, videos and a Zoom link are provided upon registration.
