Fair Isle Knitting

You too can decorate hats and fingerless gloves with adorable repeating patterns in contrasting colors! We will learn how to juggle two colors at once with smooth, even results.

Required Supplies: – 50 grams each of 2 highly contrasting colors of DK weight yarn. – US Size 6 DPN’s if you want to make the gloves. – US Size 6, 16″ circulars & matching DPN’s if you want to make the hat. – You can avoid DPN’s by knitting the hat or gloves on one long (32-40″) circular needle using the magic loop technique. – If you need to purchase yarn or needles, visit The Black Squirrel ahead of time and you’ll get a 10% discount on exactly what you need. Student Requirements and Homework: – This is an intermediate level knitting class. Students must be proficient with knitting and purling in the round on either DPN’s or circulars. – You’ll need to cast on and start the ribbing for your project *BEFORE* coming to class, so you can jump right into learning the technique.  Using you circulars, cast on 100 stitches and do 1-1.5″ of k2, p2 ribbing. Do not cast off.
