Want to learn how to knit a top-down, Fair Isle, circular yoke sweater? If you can knit in the round and do basic stranded technique, then you can do it! I will guide students through the process of knitting either the Almanac Sweater by Tin Can Knits, a lovely, aran weight, seamless pull over, or you can knit a different weight and choose your own motifs with additional help from the book Strange Brew, also by Tin Can Knits.
Please note that you will need to purchase the pattern or book and all required materials before class. You will also need to knit a striped gauge swatch in the round to check gauge and to see how the colors look together.
I recommend that you choose yarn colors with sufficient warm/cool and light/dark contrast so you can really see the Fair Isle/stranded pattern. Gray and light blue would hide the design, but navy and light blue would pop. You can test your yarn for colorfastness and prevent it from bleeding by using this guide. On the last day of class I will demonstrate how to steek your sweater, essentially reinforcing and cutting down the center front of your sweater to turn it into a cardigan.
We will meet every other week for two hours for a total of three sessions. This will me give plenty of time to demonstrate each step and for questions and answers. I will send you a Zoom link to this group once you have signed up.
